Pain experienced during MA

Just wanted to find out if anyone could shed light on my recent experience.

I recently found out I was pregnant and unfortunately raising another child was not a viable option for me and my partner so I chose to have a medical abortion at home.

I was terrified of the process as I had previously experienced a MA around 8 years ago and the level of pain was worse than labour from what I can remember. I also experienced a sensation of water breaking too. To my surprise today, I took the last of my tablets for the MA and experienced mild cramping at worst and some heavy bleeding.

I’m assuming the fact that I’m older, have experienced childbirth might have influenced the pain level. Also this pregnancy was around 6 weeks at time of termination whereas my first was 9 weeks. Just wondering if anyone has experienced similar and has any additional suggestions as to why my experiences have been so different.

Hi lovely, know this post is a week old but wanted to comment, I’ve not got any advice for you yet but I’m in a very similar position.

i had a MA 11 years ago at the ripe age of 20 and I can’t remember exactly what the pain was like but I do remember being curled in a ball on the stairs with a hot water bottle in a lot of pain.

ive since gone on to have three lovely children the youngest being 6 months old and found out I’m pregnant again and it’s just not feasible for us to keep the baby for a number of reason but my mental health being the main one!

I took my first tablet yesterday evening and like yourself I’m absolutely Terrified of what to expect when I take my next ones this evening but I will update and let you know about my pain. I’m hoping as I’ve been through childbirth a few times now that it won’t be any worse than that but I’m 8+2 weeks along.

how are you now? Did it get any worse or did it all go smoothly?

sending love at a tough time to you! Xx
