For those who got pregnant by the 'pull out method"

Hi, for those who are currently pregnant or have had a baby & got pregnant from your partner pulling out.

Did you get pregnant from a failed pulling out or do you think it was pre / c*m or it leaked ?

I'm currently not on any contraception atm due to health reasons (we should be using condoms tbh) but my partner has just been pulling out.

My partner has no issues in pulling out so if I fell pregnant I would be shocked but surely you can get pregnant from pre c*m? Or am I wrong?

Has any of you got pregnant but can't actually remember your partner ejaculating in you?

Sorry bit tmi of a post but I'm curious. As we definitely don't want another baby YET so I feel as if the pull out method isn't suitable for us at all. It's risky.

You need start using contraception, especially if you dont want children - health reasons or not. There are lot's to choose from. You can talk options at a family planning clinic/gp or even your friends - ask them what they are they doing to protect themselves?
The pull out/rhythm method doesn't offer protection I'm afraid.

Mumaway · 11/01/2024 14:49

It's very risky. Just use condoms

BarelyLiterate · 11/01/2024 14:51

‘Play silly games, win silly prizes’, as my Grandma used to say.

Use proper contraception. That’s why it exists.

WallaceinAnderland · 11/01/2024 14:53

Pull out method is not contraception.

If you are having sex without contraception then you are trying for a baby.

Up to you.

Hi, I've already been back and fourth to the GP, it's been recommended for me to avoid contraception until I undergo all of my investigations. I will definitely from now on use condoms!

Don't be silly. Use condoms. If he won't-don't have sex until he does.

Dacadactyl · 11/01/2024 15:22

I got pregnant using this method but he stayed in.

Then for the next 17 years we've used pull out without any issues. Had more kids as well, but when we wanted them.

Jellybean85 · 11/01/2024 15:37

Haha we only used this method because we were planning a third down the line anyway so it was just a question of timing.

We absolutely got pregnant from pre cum. dH pulled out and finished on a towel, he in fact pulled out a while before finishing even. I know it was that occasion as we only did it once across a 3 week ish period.
It does happen, so don't use this method unless you want a baby

Daniagainagainagain · 11/01/2024 16:02

It's cum.
We're all adults here.

Daisies12 · 11/01/2024 16:03

Pull out is not a method of contraception. You need to use condoms or totally avoid fertile window. Doesn't matter what 'part' it is.

Whatadayyyy · 11/01/2024 16:05

Yea you’re essentially playing Russian roulette every time you have sex if you use this method

janbaby2 · 11/01/2024 16:13

My understanding is that pre cum doesn't typically contain sperm however it can pick up any stragglers left behind from a previous ejaculation. If your dp hasn't ejaculated in a while then the chances of it containing sperm would be quite low.

I have used the pull out method along with cycle tracking and it worked for me. But then it wouldn't have been the worst thing if id fallen pregnant. I don't think it's as risky as people here make out, providing it done properly I.e in very good time!

But for some reason people always go on about how silly and childish it is to class this as a form of contraception. I mean it's 80% effective when done correctly so the odds are fairly good but maybe not if you adamantly don't want to be pregnant.

bzarda · 11/01/2024 16:15

This is how my 8 month old was conceived! I also have PCOS and was told we would have issues... definitely use condoms if you don't want another!

Disturbia81 · 11/01/2024 16:16

Yes pregnant two times from pre cum as he pulled out way before the actual cumming.
He had no idea when the pre cum comes!

KirstenBlest · 11/01/2024 16:16

It's not called Vatican Roulette for nothing. No glove, no love.

Isitisit · 11/01/2024 16:17

It worked for me but only when our relationship had reached the point where having kids was planned to happen in the next couple years anyway so we didn’t mind the risk. Once we started trying I got pregnant twice in a year (one MC)
