HELP please, severe period pains

ARRGHHHHHxxxxx · 02/07/2023 08:43

I've always suffered with bad period pain, but at 31 they are so severe now and the pain is unbareable.

I have previously been on the injection but for other reasons I have decided to get my body back to normal (I'm not ttc).

The pain is almost as bad as labour pains. No idea if this is relevant but I am petite, size 8/10 and bleed heavily.

I have tried deep heat patches, ibuprofen, paracetamol but nothing seems to work. All I want to do is curl up and sleep when I'm on. It's only the first 1-3 days it's painful then it goes.

Would it be worth seeing a doctor to see why it's so severe? Or does anyone have any good things I could try?

Pressed send too early, I work a lot too so would need to have some pain relief which is quick.

Buscopan IBS can help but tbh I found the only thing that helps is not having them.

I feel for you - I’m the same! Yes the GP can prescribe other painkillers and drugs that reduce the flow. They might refer you to see what’s causing it.

Mefenamic acid was my saviour. Also stopped after I had babies.

Yes please do go and see a doctor and ask for checks to see if you have endometriosis. It took me until peri menopause to be diagnosed. What a frustration!
