Coil taken out

I'm having my coil taken out next week, not having another put back in as dh has had the snip. Can people give me their experiences of having the coil removed, did it hurt? Did you bleed. I have had it in for 5 years and haven't had a period since, when do people's cycles get back to normal

Hi Op
I am on my second coil, I am peri menopause stage,
Now ,
I had it put in first place, for extremely heavy menses,
Not for birth control
Have second mirer coil fit,
It's definitely done the job, thank god, as I started to have quite frequent accidentally flooding,
I couldn't relax as allways allmost constantly fearful of next flooding accident,

From what I rember it was just a bit uncomfortable,

It was far less painful having coil taking out,
than inserted in,

I don't think my periods took that long to restablish normal previous monthly cycles @Unicornsparkle1000

I've hesitated before posting but my coil removal was horrendous.

I'm generally quite good with pain, but I nearly passed out. It felt like pulling barbed wire through my cervix.

I was due to have a new one fitted but frankly just couldn't face it.

I bled really badly afterwards for about two days.

I was told my coil had degraded.

Hopefully that isn't your experience but I would definitely suggest taking some painkillers before you go.

To give balance, I'm on my 4th coil. I've never had any issues with removal, ever so slightly mild discomfort but that's it. Insertion for me is very uncomfortable (but clearly not bad enough to put me off).

Take painkillers beforehand just in case, but with luck, you'll be fine!
