Hello everyone, I was wondering what type of contraceptive to go for after birth. I was using the pill before and was getting my period twice a month. My aunt said that the implant made her become obese. She is fat and I have never seen her eat anything. What are your experiences ladies?

After birth what they recommend partly depends on whether you want to breastfeed or not. Combined pill is not recommended while breastfeeding because it can reduce milk supply. The progestogen only pills work well for lots of mums post partum. This is absolutely a good question for your midwife, even while you’re pregnant.

The progesterone only pills were not good for me

I had a c section 12 days ago and they put the Mirena coil in during it. I’ve had lots of friends who have this and said it was brilliant, no/very little bleeding and no side effects! Obviously everyone is different though so I guess it’s a bit of trial and error.
