What contraception? Patch? Ring?

I've just got my periods back after having DD2 and I've remembered how awful they are. I get really low mood, bad anxiety/panic attacks, and nausea in the days leading up to my period. And horrible pain around ovulation that extends down my legs.
Currently we use condoms which is fine for us if we're just thinking about contraception, but I was wondering about hormonal contraception to see if it helped with my PMS/ovulation symptoms. Even just stopping ovulation would be a bonus.
I've tried two brands of pill in the past (think they were both the mini pill) and they both really affected my mood. I'm just starting to recover from pretty severe PND so reluctant to give the pill another go if it's likely to affect my mood. But it was ages ago (pre children) that I tried it, is it worth another go?

Or I was wondering about the patch or the ring? Has anyone used these? I know they still have side effects but I was wondering if anyone who didn't like the pill found either of these better?

I know it's all individual and I can't know until I try one, but was wondering if anyone had any thoughts?

(I'm too much of a wuss for the coil, plus I don't like the idea of not having control over stopping it if I don't like it.)
