Low iron on copper coil?

I've had the copper coil for 6 months. In some ways it's been fine, no hormones, regular periods. The periods are heavy though and after babies etc I was already low on iron. My hair is starting to come out and I'm getting every bug going, so I'm sure it's affecting my iron.

What's everyone experience with it? I can't decide whether to persevere or get it out and have something like the depo to stop my periods for a while and get my iron reserves up.

I had the copper coil, periods were very heavy. I had a rash on my hand that wouldn't heal, and terrible PMS. The doctor put me on anti-depressants and swapped the copper for the Mirena. My gut instinct was to have it out and stop the anti-depressants and see how my body was without all of those things. I had the mirena removed, I was still having a lot of issues, no energy, very moody. They tested my FSH (folicle stimulating hormone) - it was high, and my iron, it was very low. I blame the IUDs. Iron tablets did get me back to my old self. I really believe that IUDs are great for some women, but for me I think my body is very sensitive, I'm not great with taking vitamins either. I honestly believe that between the IUDs another baby would have been easier to deal with, than the crap the IUDs put me through.
