We had unprotected sex Saturday night.

I've jus had my first period after a miscarriage 2
Months ago and have been bleeding for 2 weeks straight and it's getting lighter now so I don't know if I need to take a morning after pill or not for this reason ! Can anyone help ?
Thanks xx

I have no idea of the likelihood of you getting pregnant now, but if you don’t want a baby then I’d just take the pill. It’s not worth the risk and there’s always a chance, no matter how small

So you forgot Fridays, took Saturdays and Sundays, and missed Mondays, and had sex Saturday night?

Yes it might be worth taking emergency contraception. The sooner the better, and use condoms until you’ve had 7 further continuous pills ie Monday onwards.

If you’ve just had a period the chance of pregnancy is low, but not nil. Sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

I really wouldn't risk it. Very hard to tell how likely pregnancy is given that you've been bleeding for 2 weeks, but I personally would prefer to err or the side of caution and get emergency contraception. The mini pill is notoriously sensitive to the timing of the doses.

Assuming you’re on desogestrel (Cerelle or Cerazette) the window for taking it is bigger (12 hours instead of 3 with the older POPs) and the chance of ovulation after just one missed pill is very low. However if a pregnancy wouldn’t be wanted then it’s always worth taking emergency contraception.

I’d take it to minimise the risk.

I took it this afternoon for free from boots! I would love to TTC again but as I've had a few miscarriages now I'm waiting for nhs tests and investigations etc
Thankyou for everyone reply and help x
