Cerazette experience please?

Hi - I was recently prescribed Cerazette to help with my periods and also for contraception. I have had no side effects so that's been good. The GP said to me a high number of women find their periods stop on it but mine has arrived. I guess I was hoping to be one of the lucky ones and not get a period at all.

Anyone that's been on this pill, did you have a period? Could mine still stop or would they have stopped straight away if they were going to?

Thank you x

Hi, mine stopped after 3 months - I get a light period once or twice a year now

I’m on it. I can’t remember when I last had a proper period. When I first started it I bled heavily for a while. Like 2 months. And then nothing. I get spotting maybe twice a year.

Mine stopped for the entire time I was on it - four years.

I put weight on whilst on it, but can't entirely blame the Cerazette for that - just living a busy life, working full time, looking after young kids and not looking after myself.

Hope you get on well with it.

My GP told me it can take 3 to 6 months for your body to get used to it so I'd say there is definitely still time. I spotted every day for 3 months before giving up and switching to a different one , it just didn't suit me.

I was on cerazette for a year and after a month or 2 my periods did stop completely. I also gained so much weight and my hormones were all over the place. I felt horribly depressed and didn't realise it was due to the pill until I came off. I hope you don't have the same experience!

No period for over 25 years. First due to contraceptive injection then cerazette for the last 5 years. I think they are both the same hormonal make up.

Didn’t take it for long as it brought me out in cystic acne - face, chest and back.

MistletoeMeadow · 15/08/2022 19:38

Didn’t have a period on it. Be warned if you might be trying to conceive later down the line - it took me a full six months after coming off it for my periods to return.

Thanks everyone! Hoping this period just lasts the length of a normal period (I've read horror stories of the opposite!) and that it reduces over the next few months. A life with no period would be ideal!

Thankfully no other side effects (so far anyway) x
