Desogestrel can I just start taking it again?

I came off Desogestrel about a year ago, I'm 45 and was having an issue with period pains but no period. GP suggested stopping it so I did.

However, I have not been on contraception since and have had a few pregnancy scares since. AF started today and I have a strip of pills left in the cupboard, would I be ok to re start taking them, without discussing with my GP. I haven't had a pill checkup since pre covid but have my own BP monitor to check my BP.
