Microgynon 30 - Thoughts

Starting Microgynon 30, however I'm subconsciously worried that the pill won't be effective and I will get pregnant 😬 I would double up on contraception to cover all bases, however I hate the feeling of condoms 🙈 (yes, we've tried plenty of varieties)

As much as I'd love a 3rd baby, my OH isn't keen on the idea at the moment.

Are there any ladies that are currently on Microgynon 30, that are taking it for 21 days then a 7 day break? Can you reassure me 🙈 Is it working well for you or have you had any surprises whist being on this method?

On what basis do you think it won't be effective? I'm struggling to understand where you're coming from.
If your OH doesn't want another baby perhaps a vasectomy would be a good idea?

I think Microgynon 30 was what I used to use for many years and I never had a scare ever. You could set daily reminders on your phone so you don't forget to take them at a similar time each day and don't forget to start taking them after the break - my life was so much better once I started doing this!

I have fallen pregnant being on a different pill to Microgynon that's why I'm worried this won't be effective, I'm hoping that if I take it at the same time daily I won't have any issues however I've still got my doubts as no contraceptive is a 100% effective is it.

Wouldn't want my partner to have a vasectomy as I know he would like another child just not at this moment in time.

I took microgynon for about 18 years. Never had a problem and loved it. My period used to come at exactly the time each month (7am on a Monday!) and I had zero side effects.

When I stopped taking it to TTC I became pregnant within 3 months

You could always double down and use condoms in tandem with the pill?

Ime, you're unlikely to get pregnant while using microgynon as you will have no sex drive. Nearly circumventing the entire issue.

It seemed the be the one that everyone I and everyone I knew when on when we all first starting taking the pill and that was something that seemed to impact quite a few of us. You may be fine, I was just being flippant, sorry!

Best pill I've ever been on. My sex drive remained high, I could run several packs together with no breakthrough bleeding and I didn't once get pregnant.

It gave me recurrent thrush and weight gain, but I didn't get pregnant.

I’ve been on it for 10 years, and no baby or side effects yet!

I was on microgynon for years.
It was the only contraception I got on with - bloody brilliant.

@MuchoMistrust that's so funny 😆 I was the same. My period used to come on a Monday night at 8pm almost like clockwork.

OP I was on microgynon for about 11 years with no issues either.

Sometimes I would forget and take late I.e the next morning and never had any problems

I used it successfully for 20 years. No pregnancies on it, was able to fall pregnant quickly after coming off it.

Same with the no sex drive side effect 🤣. Perfect contraceptive!
