I had the copper coil fitted this week..
Am I going to live to regret this decision?

No. What makes you say that?

@NoHeavenNoMore I've been reading they can make your periods unbearably heavy. I am bleeding already but I've switched from the pill so not sure if it's just a withdrawal bleed or not x

I’ve had two copper coils now. First few periods after the first one were a bit heavier and more painful than usual, they say allow up to 6 months for them to ‘settle’.

Honesty I love having contraceptive that’s non hormonal and that I don’t have to remember (don’t get on well with pill, implant etc).

It made mine heavier tbh. I had it out after a year or so because my periods were heavy and so long - 11 days - and my cycle was only about 23 days.

Some people do get heavier more uncomfortable periods

Some people notice no difference

See how you go

Please just check your strings on a regular basis . My daughter checks her 1st of every month whilst in bath or shower , just to be sure it's not dropped down the pan 🤭

I don't wish to be alarmist but I actually got pregnant using the copper coil. I was 40 years old at the time. I believe it had moved slightly. My pregnancy ended as ectopic. Periods however were not affected.

Oh, I get you, yeah I kind of see where you're coming from. Mine makes day 2 of my period really heavy but days 1 and 3,4,5 are just minimal. So it kinda makes up for the one heavy day.
I don't want to take any pills or have hormonal contraception, or any more children, so this will be my choice of contraception until menopause
