Should I try the mirena?

Thanks for reading!

My GP has recommended the mirena as with the combined pill I have to have my blood pressure checked each time they prescribe due to being slightly overweight! The combined pill works well for me, I don't notice any side effects really and I know when I'm going to have a bleed.

I've heard good things about the mirena however, every time I've tried progesterone only contraception I get constant bleeding!

Implant caused constant spotting for months, mini pill was like a murder scene every day for weeks until I just stopped taking it.

Am I likely to suffer the same side effects with the mirena as it is progesterone only?

I'm in a new relationship so not keen on bleeding every day 😒

Progesterone only made me bleed daily.

So Mirena made me bleed daily too and it was hell because getting it removed took a loooooong time.

That is exactly what I'm worried about 😭

I bled loads. Insisted they take it out. Hadn't been put in properly...
Implant made me low in mood.
Ended up using condoms until got too old to get pregnant!

I've had the mirena for years. Once it's in and settled it's fine. I've had 1 where the strings were too long, buy a follow up appointment got them cut. It's a bit uncomfortable going in but I find the same position as having a smear works. I sometimes had light bleeds but nothing much. Now I'm perimenopausal I have an estrogen patch and the coil.

I got the copper. I had "adverse reactions" to progesterone so my body acts like it's pregnant, sickness, nausea, weight gain, milk production and pure exhaustion. I hate hate hate the mirena however the bleeding did regulate after 1.5 years, I spent the first 6 months bleeding constantly then the next with no period at all but now I get one 7 day period a month I just don't know when in that month.

I've got endometriosis which is why I was told to try it but I'm on the waiting list to get it removed when I have a laporascopy

My experiance with the Mirena has been nothing but positive, l am on my third now and never had any spotting or bleeding. No weight gain, no hormonel problems and l am 53 so assume l am going through the menopause but no symptons, no hot flushes and l sleep fine, just abit low on energy somedays.
