Cerazette success and failure

I had appointment at family planning clinic last night, I'm on the waiting list for a coil (vasectomy waiting times are currently up to 1 year), but in the meantime I've got cerazette mini pill to take. Before we had children I had always used combined pills so this is a new one for me. I've been doing some googling (probably a bad idea!) and seeing a lot of people becoming pregnant while taking cerazette. Now most insist they've taken it correctly, but you can never know if thats 100% true, I guess you can only take it at face value.

I'm just worried about using something that's perhaps not as effective as I'd hoped. I also think people are most likely to post about becoming pregnant while taking the pill, than people are about using a pill for many years and never becoming pregnant. So before we stop using condoms in the next few days, I'm looking to hear both sides of this, anyone who would be happy to share their experiences of cerazette as a contraceptive. Thanks!

I was on Cerazette for years, and I'd never have used it if it wasn't a reliable contraceptive. The no-periods side effect was awesome!

@DaisyMum40 Hi op I hated cerazette I couldn't have the combined pill anymore so they put me on the mini pill i didn't get pregnant on it but I was an emotional wreck really bad tempered and I spotted constantly I gave up after 6 weeks . The coil I highly recommend though Smile

Ive just started it and am worried about this too!

I got pregnant on it. I took it exactly as you're supposed. The midwife said she had heard of a few cases.

I love cerazette. No periods, I was on it for about 5 years before stopping to get pregnant, lots of sex in that time and no scares. Now on it again for around another 5 years after a fail with cerele (constant bleeding).

I used to be on microgynon from teens to mid 20s so the thought of moving to cerazette was intimidating but actually I love it.

These things are so individual though!

Loved it -no periods for 15 years. Also completely reliable.

It was awful. I bled constantly, irritable, depressed, gained weight just looking at food. Never again.

Thanks everyone, it's definitely a mixed bag when it comes to people loving it or hating it! I'm just freaking out at the amount of results when searching about the amount of people becoming pregnant despite taking it correctly. However, I've had no pregnancy scares in the past while being on oral contraceptives so I'm just going to trust this one too!

In any case, I've been told coil wait list is about 4 months so that gives me some time to see how I get on with cerazette in the meantime then make a decision.

Any cerazette users able to share their experiences in any changes to cervical mucus? I thought it worked by thickening it and making it hostile to sperm. But mine is still very clear, wet and slippery, almost like EWCM. Not to mention that my sex drive is still pretty strong. We've already had sex a few times this week, I hope it's doing it's job!

I was on cerezette for 10 years and no periods. I came off it a year before trying to conceive so that my periods returned and were normal again. Took me ages to get pregnant but that could just be me. Gave birth to my daughter in December and back on cerezette again

Jumping on this thread as it’s quite recent considering and hoping someone can help. I started taking Cerazette in October, relatively symptom free but I had “relations” Saturday and while I took the tablet as normal I ended up being ill 3 hours later, I took another at 4am as I was awake worrying and still with it the 12 hours later window. But all the reviews of pregnancy have me worried stiff!!

they do seem quiet old I was wondering did they maybe change the pill it seems like everyone on it ended up pregnant. Think I will get some plan B even if it was 3 days ago is it as high risk pregnancy wise as it appears online? Why would any doctor prescribe it 🙈
