2 year waiting list, what contraception?

So I’ve arranged a tubal ligation and the waiting list is 2 years. DP is calling about a vasectomy separately.

I want to go on some form of contraception because my body cannot ever have another baby, I’m absolutely certain of that. My concern is hormonal contraception makes me spotty and angry, we used condoms/temping previously but I don’t have the head space for that atm with 2u2.

The copper coil made me bleed for a year, what about the hormonal coil? What’s the dosage? Will is make me feel like the injection/pill? Or is it a smaller dose because it’s right there in the uterus? Midwife couldn’t answer when I asked☹️.

I've got a Kyleena which is a smaller version of the mirena. I also couldn't cope with any other hormones or the copper coil. I did wait 6 months to get it fitted though! It's been a little odd after, the bleeding has settled to monthly spotting from fairly heavy and at times painful periods before, again that probably took 6 months of spotting most of the time to get there. I couldn't find any other option and this is now good.

Thank you @ComedyRoutine I will look into that. I assume it gets inserting the same way 😬

I think it’s a similar level of progesterone but is less likely to cause side effects as the majority of the hormone stays in your reproductive system and not much is in your bloodstream or other tissues.
