Microgynon 30 ED opinions?

Hi Ladies,

I have just started taking Microgynon 30 ED pills, literally my first day today after a break from hormonal contraception and having been on the mini pill for some time a few years back, but it did not agree with me and the bleeding never settled. I am 24 and my BP is perfect so the nurse was very happy for me to go on this pill.

What are your thoughts on it and what side effects did you get, if you did get any? I have been given a 3 months' supply to see how I get on with it.

Thanks! xx

I've been on it for eight or nine years - I moved onto it from Cileste as I lived for a while in a country where it wasn't available.

I had mood swings for the first week or after transitioning (but was in a pretty stressful situttion at the time, so hard to tell what caused what!), but no other side effects since. No weight gain, depression, acne, mood swings etc.

I’ve been on it for 15 years without a single side effect. Back then it was what they prescribed almost everyone. However my sister reacted horribly and has tried most of the other pills going until she found one that worked for her. I think it’s very dependent on the individual and one persons experience may be totally different to yours.

I agree with you! But, I must say I do find it rather comforting that a lot of the forums online praise this particular pill and there seems to be a very small amount of negative experiences with it. I just wanted to get a general idea as I know some combined pills are a no-go!

Ah, that's reassuring! Smile Of course, everyone reacts differently but I am very pleased to see so much positive feedback around this pill across various women's forums.
