Mirena or Depo?

The only birth control I can take is Mirena/copper coil and depo shot. I've had the copper coil and it made me chronic pelvic pain worse. I also feel like I had a lot of symptoms while using the Mirena coil, but after I had it removed some of my symptoms stayed and I was going through a hard time, my FIL was at home with terminal cancer and it was his last days. This was 6 years ago and since having the Mirena out, I just avoid sex during ovulation and that's the only form of birth control we use.

I'm now on a new medication and the GP has informed me it would be very dangerous for the newborn if I got pregnant, so it is very important I do not get pregnant. I definitely do not want that, so I've decided to give birth control another try, only to find out because of medical conditions and medication, those are the only three I can use.

TLDR, I've worked very hard and lost 4 stone, (still losing more) but I don't want to use any coils due to previously bad symptoms on them. I've never tried depo, but heard people gain a lot of weight on it and once you get the shot, you are on it for 12 weeks, you can't just stop taking it or reverse it. Anyone have good experiences on depo shots? Or do I just try Mirena again because at least if it's horrible I can take it out again? Thanks in advance!

Can you not take the mini pill if you're OK with the depo and mirena?

Depo made me bleed and put on tons of weight

Unfortunately, I can't take the mini pill. My medication makes most birth control ineffective. Those are literally the only three I can use, other than things like condoms, etc.

Perhaps a vasectomy for your DH? If he would consider it.

@Topseyt

Perhaps a vasectomy for your DH? If he would consider it.
That's a good idea, I'll just have to see if DH would be willing. Thanks.
