Copper coil

Hi folks. I've decided to have the implant removed as I absolutely hate it. I have random bleeding, weight gain and it has destroyed my sex drive. I have been looking into alternatives and think I might go with the copper coil as want to avoid hormones. Could anyone please let me know their experiences with this coil? Is it good? What are the side effects etc? Thanks in advance!

well it was uncomfortable to get it fitted but just as bad as having a smear.I felt crampy for a week and my cycles were a little weird for a few months but after that fine absolutely fine normal periods feel fine wouldn't know its there

I had it for 7 and a half years, can't recommend it enough. Didn't give me any grief or affect periods in any way.
As @rosydreams mentioned though, it was uncomfortable being fitted and I had, what felt like, period cramps for a week or so after but they subsided.
Having it removed, just gave me a little tummy ache, nothing major.
But bare in mind, everyone reacts to things different. I've seen some people say it was the worst decision they've ever made but I personally can't fault it xx

I’ve had two copper coils.

I loved my first. Had it for 5 years. Didn’t find insertion uncomfortable thankfully.. made my periods a bit heavier but nothing awful. No hormones so zero side effects.

I had my second in after my first child. It was awful 🤷🏼‍♀️ My periods were off the scale heavy. Like insane. I needed a max tampon every 35 minutes for days on end. They were so heavy, they pushed my coil out and it basically fell out when I went for a wee one day 🙈

I think it’s worth a try. If it works & your periods are OK on it, game changer! And if it makes them horrible, get it out & they instantly go back to normal! So no harm done!

I bled constantly on it too but it was constant heavy bleeding while on the implant it was light and more of just an annoyance.
