Cerazette mini Pill

Hi, my Dr has given me this new Contraceptive pill to try, called Cerazette. I have always been on the combined pill, called Lizzina and would take it for 3 months and then have a break due to having Endometriosis.
The Dr said this pill I take everyday and continue to take it everyday with out any breaks. Also she said my periods will get lighter and will disappear. Which is all new to me. Has anyone had any bad side effects from taking it or has been absolutely fine taking it?
Thanks 😊

No side effects with this but my surgery tried to give me a cheaper version of the "same one" which gave me an awful and continuous discharge - sorry TMI. I forced them to change it back and have not had it again so the "same" obvs was different in some way!

Same here as Hopeful. No problem with Cerazette but I had lots of spotting with the generic version, but fine once back on the cerazette.

Cerazette doesn't always stop periods and can cause erratic bleeding in some women. Why are you stopping taking the combined pill? Combined pill gives more control over periods most of the time

I’ve been on it for nearly 8 years and it’s fantastic. I used to have heavy clots in my periods and didn’t like the combined pill due to the dvt risk associated with the oestrogen in it so switched to cezarette and haven’t had a period in years and years. Initially I did have some breakthrough bleeding which is normal - took about 3 months to completely calm down but now I never have any bleeds or periods at all.

I had erratic bleeding, would spot for 10 days a month randomly. It also gave me acne like spots on my jawline and neck.

I now use natural family planning but appreciate this isn't suitable for everyone

I took cerazette as could no longer take combined pill. no problems at all... it stopped my periods - no side effects whatsoever (i never had issues with combined pill either). Took 2 months from when I stopped to getting a period again.

And me. Have been on Cerezette for years and no periods or even spotting since about month 2 but did bleed a bit when put on Cerelle so asked doc to change me back. But my DD is now on the same and still has irregular periods although they are less frequent, much lighter and less painful than when she wasn't on it. So depends on the person really. Agree with PP that for some women the combined pill offers more control as if you bleed on mini pill it does tend to be irregular. That said combined isn't suitable for everyone.

Hi the reason why the Dr has given me this one is because I have high blood pressure, and she said to do with my age. I am 35 years old. It will be better to go on this one. I was happy to stay with the other pill but she said this one will be better for me.

You should not be using combined pill with high blood pressure and reaching 35

The Progesterone only pill is equally effective and safer for you
As well as for anyone else with

35 +
High B/P
High BMI
Smoker
Migraine sufferer
History of certain cancer or clotting

Have faith in it and give it a try
Cerazette I believe is 75 msg desogestrel so whilst you should take it at the same time you actually have a 12 hr window for safety pretend you don't know that , take it at the same time

Splendo · 04/08/2021 20:48

I had no problems on Cerazette until I came off it so I could try to conceive and it took 7 months for my period to come back.

I’ve been in Progesterone only pill for a couple of years now due to suspected mini stroke whilst on combined. Took about 2 months to settle and then periods stopped. I find it much easier to remember - I used to always forget what day I took my last one before break and when to start again!

No other Ill effects and no crazy mood swings like I had previously! Altogether I just feel more ‘balanced’ emotionally than I was on combined pill.

mumto2unicorns · 16/09/2021 13:29

Just wanted to mention that I did try the mini pill for 3 days and ended up crying all day and thinking I was going mad. It was only after I forgot to take it one morning and the took it after lunch did I realise it was triggering my low mood.

I know it works really well for other people but just wanted to mention
