Hi all
Having the mirena coil fitted today and bit nervous about it all but can you tell me about your weight gain experiences please if any?
I don't really want to put on any more weight and I know it increases appetite so is there anyone out there that didn't find this?
I'm having it fitted to help treat my endo. I'm worried about the other potential side effects too but more weight gain right now will not do much for my confidence Confused

I’m afraid I did find weight gain, which as an already overweight (and trying hard to lose some) person I could ill afford.

I’d reluctantly allowed myself to be persuaded into having the mirena to treat heavy flooding periods. It didn’t help with those either and they got worse. I stuck it out for 13 long months and only had it removed in January this year. I know it can take time to settle, but I reached the end of my tether and threw in the towel. I figured that if it hadn’t settled in all that time then it wasn’t going to.

We are all different though. It works for some people and I guess you don’t know unless you try. Your experience might be different to mine.

I had previously been slim all my life and after having the Mirena Coil fitted became overweight. I had the Coil removed after the 5 years and have not been able to shift the weight now almost 2 years later. If I had known weight gain was a common side effect I would not have had it fitted. No proof it was definitely the Mirena but sure it is connected.

I haven't noticed any weight gain. Had it 4 years. Ask them to give some instella-gel. It didn't hurt me just a bit uncomfortable. Best thing I ever did. No more heavy leaking periods!!!

I am worried about the weight gain and how does this weight happen? Is it my increase in appetite or just getting fatter because you the mirena fitted.. please can anyone let me know thanks
