Stopped mini pill due to constant bleeding

Hi all I stopped the mini pill due to having constant 'breakthrough bleeding'. I am 30 and have never taken any pill, we have alway used the pull out method which has been fine for 10 years. We decided to try for a baby which worked straight away when I was 28, fell pregnant again when DS was 7 months!! So decided its time to try a form of contraceptive, was given the mini pill due to breastfeeding.

ANYWAY.... anyone just never stopped bleeding one the mini pill !?

I never stopped bleeding without it. Took at least 6 months to stabilise.

Yes I had a period for 4 years so I started taking the mini pill and it took 6 months and then I stopped bleeding.

I took 3 months to stabilise on mini-pill but since then I've had no bleeding at all. Over a year now, best decision I ever made!

I started bleeding for 3 weeks after no bleeding for 5 yrs.
I posted on here if I recall.
Then a few days later it stopped.
That was 2 yrs ago.

Depends on how long you're willing to give it really and how much you rely on it.
I'm glad I carried on.

Did any of you find that the mini pill made you feel miserable, I just couldn't deal with waking up in a bad mood plus the bleeding everyday made me more miserable. I don't think I was willing to give it any more time 😕

I stuck with it until my third pack before I gave up due to the constant bleeding. I'm back on the combined pill now which gives me a couple of days of awful headaches a month but I'd take that over the constant bleeding.

How long did you try it for? I loved the mini pill. I had on off bleeding for about 3-4 months and then it gradually stopped and then absolutely nothing for the 15 years I was on it. (Only stopped due to menopause).

If the pill isn’t right for you there are other things you can try - don’t just rely on the withdrawal method. If you haven’t got pregnant that way before then you’ve just been lucky!

Which mini pill is it OP? I bled constantly on Cerazatte and also wanted to murder everyone I lived with. I'm now on Noriday which has been absolutely fine.

Workaholic2mum · 14/04/2021 20:06

I don't think my post went through I was on the desogestrel pill I took it for 3 months and it was just making me feel miserable to say the least

Yeah Crezette is another name for desogestrel. I'd go back to GP and ask to try a Norethisterone pill. I've had absolutely no issues with Noriday but Cerazette was a disaster for me.

Thank you @twigthewonderkid I was not aware of that pill, I'm actually surprised how little I know about these things... I really appreciate everyone's help and comments
