Copper coil - double up with condoms?

Hi everyone,
I got my copper coil fitted yesterday - all is well. However my question is do many women rely on the coil alone or do many people use condoms too?

I've read far too many stories about them falling out or dislodging and leading to unplanned pregnancies.

I had previously been on the implant for 5 years without using condoms.

For context - I cannot use hormonal birth control anymore, I am in a stable relationship, no children yet and definitely not in a position to have any for the next 5+ years.

thank you

I was told the copper coil is just as effective as the implant but I guess there is always a chance with anything

This table of contraceptive effectiveness might be helpful

Copper coils goo d (less than one woman in 100 using the method would have an unexpected pregnancy in a year). It's the most reliable non-hormonal method.

This is about your attimtude to risk, rather than the technology IYSWIM

I had a copper coil for 5 years. No condoms (long term boyfriend), no baby 🤷🏼‍♀️ Had it out to start trying for a baby & fell pregnant in 3 weeks!

I've had the copper coil for 10 years (just had a new one refitted). Mostly had unprotected sex in that time, never fell pregnant or worried about it. I occasionally check the threads to make sure it's still well positioned.
