Talk to me about Mirena please

I'd like your experiences of the Mirena coil please. Good, bad and ugly.

I have had 3 DC and haven't used any form of hormonal contraception since TTC my youngest 3 years ago.

I have absolutely excruciating ovulation pain every month which is awful and my periods are awfully heavy.

I'm looking for something to combat these issues more than the contraception element (DH booking in for snip when COVID allows). I was previously on the combined pill but would get awful headaches during the 'pill free' week so I'm reluctant to go back on that.

Would you recommend Mirena for the above? If you've ha done did it cause many side effects? Any experiences most welcome

I've been on it 3 years now and just recently having problems but I think I'm going through the change. So I'm getting the ovulation pains and bad PMT at the minute.
Just had a smear as I am spotting too! Was ok at the start tho xx

Been on it nearly 10 years. I had very heavy painful periods and ovulation pain. Periods completely stopped after a few months - such a blessed relief. I couldn't take many types of pill due to migraines. I very rarely get hormonal migraines now. I'd recommend the Mirena wholeheartedly based on my experience of it.
