Coil came out!

I had a coil fitted 5 weeks ago. I have had quite heavy bleeding so the doc prescribed northosterone tablets which has helped. I have been taking them 3X per day, but then a different doc told me nye (3) days ago that I shouldn’t be taking them because I get migraines with aura. I immediately stopped taking them and began bleeding again yesterday. It got really heavy earlier and I had lots of pain, felt feverish and was passing clots. I just sat on the toilet crying, eventually after an hour I tried to stand up and get my pants/a pad back on, something moved (down there) out came my coil with a huge clot on my sanitary pad followed by lots of blood.
Bleeding now resumed to normal period type bleeding but still a little crappy but most of pain is gone and no more clots.
Has anyone else just had a coil fall out or be bleed out?
I thought this was really rare?

Yes it happened to me.

The way the coil releases copper and affects the lining of the womb was too irritating for me and I also bled so much it came out.

I was told by the gyne nurse that it’s not considered common but it does happen for a number of women and it’s something she sees fairly regularly.
She told me it was my body’s way of saying “nope”.

Happened to me. The relief i felt when it was gone was instant. Your body has detected a foreign object and has rejected it basically. It also happened to my friends belly button ring, her body rejected it. Just one of those things!

This is just it, I’ve had so much pain and bleeding since having it but the clinic just kept saying ‘give it time to settle’. I feel so much better already since it came out last night

Oh god I was thinking about getting a coil Confused

I was exactly the same, I felt horrendous for weeks and then as soon as it was out I felt so much better.

I’m fairly certain the way the copper coil works is that it releases copper which irritates the lining of your womb and makes it inhospitable, so sperm can’t survive and an embryo cannot attach.

I tried it because I was aggressively talked into it I’m against hormonal contraceptives and the affects they have on the body and mental health but I was not prepared for how negatively the coil affected me.
I went back to using a contraceptive diaphragm and I’ve never had problems with it.

I had the same with my copper coil. 3 weeks of constant pain and bleeding my body rejected it. I'm not so sensitive to hormones so I tried a mirena and its been fine ever since. In fact I've just had it replaced for a new one for the next 5 years.
