Birth control similar to implant?

I’ve had the implant for 7 years now (3 years for the first and 4 years for the second). It’s due a renewal pronto.

Myself and my partner are hoping to TTC when we’re both in full-time employment again (bloody covid!) so won’t be comfortable for another year.

I was on the pill beforehand (I think two different ones) and I was depressed all the time. I’m eager to stay away from anything that affects my mental health.

The implant has been great for me - had normal monthlies, normal mental health, weight etc etc.

I could get an implant for a year then removed but maybe thinking of something more short term. Also thinking that it takes a while for fertility to come back? With all the options out there it’s quite overwhelming if anyone has any advice?

The 12 week injection has the same hormones (progesterone) as the implant, and the contraceptive mini pill. But go with whatever works for you. I had a mirena put in for just 6 months and both and I my doctor knew it was only going to be for that long. Maybe its best to get the implant again if you know you tolerate it well.
