Contraceptive implant (Nexplanon) side effects

I had a contraceptive implant put in back in April, about 8 weeks after giving birth to my first child. This is my third implant and I've never noticed any side effects before. Shortly after getting it fitted I started getting very mild dizzy spells. It was hard to put my finger on what was wrong but I just felt slightly off balance and it felt difficult to focus my eyes. I didn't connect this to the implant for months, however the dizziness has recently got worse and I sometimes have to lie down. I'm having the implant taken out this week as the doctor thinks it's plausible that it's causing the vertigo, but I was curious as to whether anyone else has experienced this or similar side effects?

Yes I experienced this - had no idea it might be implant related.

I have also had mine taken out due to horrible side effects though including heavy painful periods that were all over the place (so you could never plan!)

  • severe bloating
  • weight gain
  • mood swings
  • depression
  • anxiety

@Wildthingsx I've also had anxiety and mood swings! I put it down to lack of sleep but my sleep hasn't actually been too bad lately and I'm still very irritable. I've been bleeding non-stop since May too. Why is contraceptive so hard? 😭 I thought I was into a winner with the implant

I thought so too!

Iv had it out for a month now and still feel a bit hormonal, but the nurse explained it can take a few months before I feel settled again.

It’s so frustrating because I simply don’t want to be pregnant. That’s all! Is that such a hard ask 😫
