Ladies, please share with me your contraception thoughts.

I'm 41, with 2 kids 11 year old DS and 1 year old DD. I've had a natural delivery and a EMCS. A positive breastfeeding experience and a not so positive one. I'm done now, neither I nor partner (getting married next year) want any more kids.

Partner has said that he will have vasectomy, but hasn't done anything about it in the last year, he keeps meaning to make an appointment, but never seems to get around to it, so I'm looking into options for me.

I can't take the pill (had a migraine once and lost vision, had to stop it there and then and was told I'd never be allowed on it again).

I don't really want anything that going to mess with my hormones, I'm aware that menopause is getting closer, don't want injection or implant, condoms are such a mood killer.

My friend has got the mirena coil and raves about it, but what puts me off is - I can barely cope with a smear test, I don't think I could lay there, and she said that sometimes her partner can feel it 🤔.

Have you got the coil? How do you find it? Did you have problems with bleeding? Did it hurt?

Have any of you been sterilised? How did you find that? Was it the right decision for you? Did it effect your periods?

Any stories most welcome x
