Complicated Contraceptive Clinic

Was due to have my implant removed on Saturday, the nurse tried for 50 minutes but was unsuccessful. She said that the implant was really deep and there was lots of scar tissue.

I've now been referred to the Complicated Contraceptive Clinic. They said they would call me at some point in August to assess my priority as the clinic works on a priority case basis.

Has anyone else been referred to hospital for this? If so, how was your implant removed?

I'm trying to be upbeat but I've hated every second of having the implant and just want it over and done with.

I got referred to a complex contraception clinic a few weeks ago. My implant hadn’t been put in properly, so it was at an angle, and one end was really deep. At my original appointment to have it taken out, the nurse didn’t even try to remove it - she took one look and told me I’d need an ultrasound to get it out.
It took a few weeks for the appointment to come through, but the procedure was really efficient and painless. The doctor who treated me specialises in removing implants that are deep or tricky to remove, and that made a huge difference.
Fingers crossed you get your appointment soon. August isn’t that far away, although if you’re counting down the days to have your implant out, I can imagine how frustrating it feels. So awful when you don't have a choice over your contraception.
By the sounds of things, the implant has made your life a bit of a misery, but I’m sure when you explain how it’s affected things physically and mentally to the clinic, they’ll be able to prioritise you. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply GruffaloCrumble.

I'm OK with waiting, I think it was the initial disappointment that it was going to be a few more weeks. 🙂

Relieved to hear it was straightforward though, cheers!
