Copper coil - are these symptoms normal?

I had the copper coil fitted on Thursday (3 days ago) and I have had constant cranps, some unbearable that wake me up in the night. My stomach feels swollen and very bloated. Even walking hurts at times and if I apply light pressure to my abdomen it is extremely painful!
Is any if this normal? I wish I had never had it done!!

Just to add, I have had 2 normal labors and this pain I have had has felt like I'm in early stages of labor and everything is so tender!

I was constantly bloated on the copper coil, it really works for some but wasn't for me. You need to give it about 4 months.

That sounds quite extreme. I think I'd go and get it checked to make sure it hasn't dislodged or perforated. Sorry for grimness but best to be straight up!

I experienced pain like that for 2 days then woke up and it disappeared. That was 3 months ago and I’m now four weeks late and bloated constantly. I’m giving my coil a few more weeks before taking it out.

I have had a copper coil and never experienced anything like you're describing so I'd say there was problem!

I loved mine!

Also my DD (18) had one fitted just before lockdown and she hasn't experienced any problems either. Def see the GP or clinic where it was fitted.

I have one and didn’t experience anything like that - I would go back and get it checked out (I love mine!)

I did not have any side effects that bad, worth contacting your practice nurse or family planning clinic to check it out. It did take 4 months for mine to settle down fully but now it's the best contraceptive ever.

When you say it took four months to settle do you mean irrregular/spotting/nothing?

Did anyone else find that theirs took a bit of time to settle down. This is making me feel more positive about giving it a little longer
