Anyone have problems with Copper Coil?

Hello, just as the question says really, since having the copper IUD inserted over a year ago I have had numerous UTI infections 😭 I have been put on antibiotics at least 7 times in the last year, tried herbal remedies to prevent another infection occurring etc
Before Covid my GP was concerned and asked me to provide more urine samples and further investigation may be needed as to why I keep getting them, but the last time I was prescribed antibiotics it was over the phone because of the current circumstances.
It never really occurred to me that it seems to have been since I've had the copper iud in place that I have been having these problems, but I'm wondering if it could be linked?
Have any other ladies experienced any similar problems with the Copper IUD?

Not UTI but I had BV regularly, vulval dermatitis and another infection which I never had identified. Combine that with horrible heavy periods (which never settled down) and I was glad to see the back of it. I can't attribute the vulval dermatitis to the coil but it never came back after its removal.

No UTIs but horrendous periods, painful and heavier than I've ever had in my life!

Thank you for your replies ladies, I've just not felt quite right down there since having it, I think I've had a case of BV too @Northernsoullover (couldn't work out what it was, took thrush medication and didn't work so used BV pessaries and felt relief) it's only just occurred to me that this could all be linked to the coil.. I originally wanted it because it lasts 10 years and don't want anymore children, but looks like I'm going to have to have it removed 😩

I've had no problems at all. I had two years of hell with the implant (including constant thrush and BV) before eventually deciding to have it out. Opted for the copper coil because I was too scared to try anything else hormonal and it's been amazing by comparison. First period was really heavy and cramps that were so bad I couldn't go to work. Since then I can feel periods coming on but no cramp or pain, they're far lighter than before (maybe just one heavyish day), regular (godsend after the unpredictable bleeding with implant) and biggest plus is no thrush or BV since.

I complained to the doctor about constant thrush etc when I had the implant and they denied the two were connected. I wasn't convinced but kept giving it the benefit of the doubt, waiting another month. Eventually cracked after two years as I was just miserable. End of the day you just need to trust your instincts and go with how you feel. If you don't get it out then you'll never know and you can make an informed decision then. Wish I'd removed the implant sooner!

Yes....!

I had a copper IUD after 10 years of bad experience on BC pills and the implant. For the first 2 years, I had increased thrush and some UTIs but got on with it as was so good to be off the hormones (they gave me cervical erosion and played havoc with my moods).

Then after 2.5 years I got this awful rash which I thought was herpes. It all started after I got thrush/UTI which I was slow to treat because I was in a country where it was hard to find the cream and sachets.

Went to a gynaecologist who diagnosed BV but was a bit confused about the sores on my vulva (they weren't STIs - we tested for everything, but she said they didn't look right for herpes anyway). The gyno also said my IUD had slipped out of place and wasn't even protecting me against pregnancies and that she thought it was causing this crazy BV and rash. So she took it out, and later the BV came back. Currently seeing a different gyno who is treating me for uterine polyps and she said that IUDs increase the risk of BV and if they move around the uterus this can start an infection.

Sounds like @Northernsoullover maybe was in a similar boat?!
