Missed 2 pills - am I covered?

Hi all.

I'm on microgynon and finished my last 3 week pill cycle on Sunday past, date of my last pill was 23.02.
I wanted to take another packet straight away as I'm off on a hotel break with my husband this weekend but I ran out of pills. Got some new pills today and have started taking my pill again today.

So last pill was 23rd, missed 24th and 25th and started again today on 26th. So I've missed two pills only. I think I may still have a withdrawal bleed. Before my last pill on 23rd, I took my pill continuously for 21 days.

When am I covered from? Is it safe for intercourse from now without extra contraception?

Thanks
D

Unless things have changed recently you should use extra contraception even if you miss one let alone two. I'd see on the side of caution or ask a pharmacist.

Nope.

Use condoms or another barrier form of contraception like the sponge or a diaphragm.

Or Hello November baby!! Grin

Should have asked your pharmacist when you picked them up. If you have time why not nip into the pharmacy and ask.

I think I understand the timings, you took one pack as normal and were planning not to have a break and take pills continuously for 42 days. As you didn't have more pills you've taken a 2 day break rather than a 7 day break and started a new pack. If this is correct then yes you are fully protected as after 21 days of pills you can miss 7 for the withdrawal bleed before starting the next pack. By starting after 2 days you might not even get the bleed but may get some spotting

If it's a combined pill and you were supposed to be on your pill free week then yes you are covered against pregnancy.
