Coil has fallen out!

I'm waiting on a call back from 111 but posting mostly to keep myself from freaking out!

I had the coil put in 5 weeks ago and have bled most days since, on and off and also had an increase in palpations since it was put in (anyone else suffer with hormonal palps!?)

Well today I had really bad back ache and tummy ache and fresh bleeding since yesterday, just thought it was a period.

Went to the loo, wiped and there it is, the whole coil... Arms still sticking out... On my tissue paper... 😳😳😳

Called 111 as I'm shaking like a leaf and just panicking... Anyone else experienced this?!

What a nasty shock!

It’s one of the more unusual complications but it’s definitely not unheard of, I’m sure other women who’ve had the same problem will be along soon. Have the cramps stopped now that it’s out?

Mummasaurusrexx · 28/12/2019 20:43

Yeah it was slightly terrifying. The cramps are definitely less, more light period pain now.... I have a achy back and shouldn't but think thats getting over a cold and taking down Xmas decs... But obviously everything is making me panic!

Mostly worried about risk of infection or if it's perforated anything on the way out!

Hopefully 111 will get back to you soon and will be able to reassure you!

This happened to me many years ago - I went to the loo and the coil was hanging out. I didn't have an infection or anything, but I had fallen pregnant. Presumably the coil was never in the right position. It might be worth doing a test.

Oh lordy... I'm a single parent (divorce finalising after 2 year split... ) I definitely would not be ready for another bubba

Thank you, they have a long wait, called me after 2 hours to say they have huge delays and to go to bed and leave phone on.... I can't sleep!

It hasnt happened to me but they do say it can happen when you get it in so it's nothing to panic about but you will need to go see who ever put it in and have a consultation
