Not sure if copper coil is falling out...?!

Hi everyone, just need some advice or similar stories as feel like I am going mad!

I had a copper coil fitted on Wednesday at hospital due to a previous failed attempt at my gp surgery. All went ok but was told I had a small uterus and the coil they used only just fit. Any smaller and they would have fitted the 5 year coil instead of the 10 year coil.

All went ok, and I decided to have a feel the morning after so I could find the strings and also what I should be looking for. I could feel the strings but also a hard lump that seemed to be coming out of my cervix. Immediately I thought the coil must be falling out and I rang the hospital for advice. They told me to come in that day for the doctor to have a check but they also more or less said that the doctor did an ultrasound and it was positioned perfectly so there shouldn’t be a problem. This obviously put my back up a bit as felt like they thought I was lying.

So I go to the hospital yesterday and the doctor has another check of me and says she can’t see anything hanging out. She said please check yourself again and let me know if you feel anything. And lo and behold the plastic lump has gone! So off I go feeling very stupid. Especially as my partner has to take an afternoon off work (no 2nd car and no childcare) to take me.

So... this morning I go to have a check again (god knows why!) and I can feel the plastic bit again! What do I do?? I’m not having any pain really. The doctor says coils will not move up and down so what could it be?! Anyone had any experiences with this? I do not want to be a nuisance to the doctor again 😩

I had that with my previous coil and it really bothered me. When I got it checked it had moved back into position.
I had it taken out in the end for other reasons and have just had another one put in.
It already feels different, I'm cramping so much less this time. I almost feel like the last one may have just been sitting incorrectly or just not a great fit.
The one I could feel was a five year and this one is a 10 year though.
It's annoying when they say "Are you sure you aren't just feeling the knot on the strings?" Hmm
Err no. I know the difference between plastic and a tiny nylon wire thanks. Especially when you can feel the opening of your cervix and there's a lump hanging out of it.
I hate the way it's assumed you don't know your body Angry

Ah sorry to hear you’ve had a similar experience but glad to know I’m not going completely mad and not making up what I can feel. I too had the ‘you are probably just feeling the wires’ line 😡.

I’ll just have to keep an eye on it, but it’s not making me feel very trusting in it’s use as contraception!
