Will emergency contraception work?

Morning!

In a bit of a panic and looking for some advice. DH and I had sex last night and the condom split.

I’ve checked my tracker and my period is due in 7-9 days, depending on how long my cycle is this month. It can very between 24 and 28 days. So I will already have ovulated. My tracker is saying low chance of getting pregnant however, I think I ovulated late this month as had ovulation type pains on the 4th which was of course only 5 days ago.

So can someone please help me out by telling me what my options are? Would it be a waste of time to get the morning after pill today?

Thanks so much

The copper coil will be best if you have already ovulated

Fab thank you. What a mess. I have work on Monday and assume it’s not something I can have done over the weekend. But I will need to get it done if I want to avoid being pregnant.

Depends how long after your ovulated ig you had unprotected sex. Also if you had sex just before ovulation, sperm could be waiting as they can live up to 7 days.

Morning after pill is most effective in the first 24 hours. Effectiveness declines over a few days. Theres another pill that can be used up to 5 days after unprotected sex and failing that, emergency copper coil fitting will do the job.

So, I think I ovulated on Monday based on ovulation pain, I had sex last night. My period tracker tells me I am low risk of getting pregnant BUT it’s not taking in to account that I think I ovulated late.

Totally stressed out!!
