Cileste discontinued

Devastated (ok, a bit dramatic) but been on cileste completely happily for 17+ years, no side effects, it was like a dream magic pill. Just collected my prescription to be told they’ve discontinued it and changed it to something called Cilique

The pharmacist says it’s the same dose, same ingredients etc, but if it was directly the same, it wouldn’t be called something else would it? Wink

Anyone switched over? Slightly worried about leaving my safety blanket of care free pill taking and any potential changes

Cilique is identical to Cilest-same ingredients, same strength, just made by a different manufacturer. The manufacturer of Cilest has just decided to stop making any oral contraceptives- probably a financial decision! There is no need to worry. Totally the same medication. The different name is just because it's a different manufacturers brand of the same thing. That's the reason the two names are so similar.

How are you finding cilique? I’m the same as you I’ve been on cilest for years with no problems and now been given cilique, just wondered if you found it any different at all?

It's only the brand name. Bit like tesco own brand paracetamol and asda own brand paracetamol. Same drug.
