Implant

I got the nexplanon implant yesterday. Took the plaster off today (not realising until I read up on it after that it should be kept on for up to 5-7 days!)
And it's still bleeding, like dripping off my arm, bleeding quite a lot. The dr that put it in said "if it's going to come out it will be initially..but she hasn't put a steri strip on it?? Is that normal?

I can only offer my experience - I had steri strips put on mine when it was put in. I'd see if you can get an appointment, even a phonecall to see the advice

Mine didn't have steri strips but it did keep bleeding for a day or two. Can you just put a new plaster over it to reduce the risk of infection until it heals?

lisa that's reassuring to hear, thank you

Sounds like you have disturbed the wound. If your worried call 111. If not just stick a big plaster on it wrap it in a bandage and call your GPs tomorrow to see the nurse who will redress it for you. It does take a while for it to heal and will bleed a lot if disturbed. You will get a lovely bruise when it starts to heal.

Before you bandage it up again just make sure you can feel the implant just to double check.

The plaster was very stuck, it was quite hard to get it off which i should have taken as a sign to leave it the eff alone so I'm sure that's what made it bleed so much. I won't waste a Nurse's time, il go and get proper dressing tomorrow (and upgrade from the kitchen roll and bandage I have going on atm).
Thanks for the help x
