Copper coil experiences please

I'm going to get the copper coil and would appreciate some experiences so I know what to expect (preferably not horror stories!)
I've had 2 children vaginally and, since having them, have very mild period pain.

I've had it in for nearly two years after having two children and I've not had any problems with it at all, my periods are exactly the same as before I had it in.
When I had it put in the nurse numbed me so I didn't feel anything except for a bit of pressure, she did have a few problems inserting it as my muscles kept tightening but she eventually managed to do it. I didn't have any bleeding or cramps afterwards either, I've been very happy with it so far.

I've had mine for 5 years. Insertion was fine but a bit pinchy. Periods are a lot heavier and more crampy, but having said that, they lasted 2 days before and were incredibly light. Now 4-5 days and heavy but not unmanageable at all.

Never got on with hormonal contraception, so love it.

Best thing for me ever! (But, to be fair, I hated hormonal contraception, in all its forms). Having it fitted isn’t exactly a treat. But if you’ve had kids already, it’s not that bad.....

Good experience here. Periods used to be very light and now they last few days longer but still manageable. Insertion bit crampy but far better than some other unpleasant gynae things I've been through. And so nice not to worry about pregnancy AND not mess with hormones...

I got fitted with copper coil this Jan. The insertion was ok, definitely not as unpleasant as the horror stories I read. I did take two ibuprofen and paracetamol half an hour before. Since the insertion my periods were much longer but each month has decreased. This month I am back to my pre coil 6 days bleed. My periods are slightly lighter BUT I get really mild period pain. Pre coil I used to have really painful cramps. I'm loving the coil and very pleased that I got it fitted.

I’ve had mine in for nearly 9 years. Mild cramps when it went it but nothing awful. Periods no heavier than they ever were. No issues at all from me.
