Defo, pill, other options?

Hi. I have endometriosis and am on the list for a Laparotomy because they could deal with it in my first Laparoscopy due to having no bowel prep and lots of adhesions.
Anyway, obviously I’m in a lot of pain each month while I wait and the pain killers they gave me (I’ve tried a LOT) don’t work.
So I’m looking at progesterone contraception to try and ease it. I used to have the nexplanon, but I’m 32 and if I can have kids after this then I want to, so that’s too long term for me. I don’t want a coil. So I’m left with either the depo shot, or a pill.
My implant used to stop all my periods and pain etc, so that’s the ideal I’d like, but am aware you can’t predict these things.
Just wondering if anyone has had either and what they’re experiences were/are.

I do have an appointment for a couple weeks time for the depo, but can always change my mind on that.

I've had the depo, the pill and am currently on the implant.

The depo made me loose weight, my hair fell out and I looked really ill .... but as soon as I stopped it after the 3 months things went back to normal

the implant however has been great - mine get taken out every 18 months as they stop working for me after that time and won't last the 3 years they're suppose too.

I can't have the coil so can't advise.

Thanks! It’s only really a stop gap for the moment until I’ve had surgery, so I feel like 3 months is fine and I wouldn’t have to remember to take it.

The implant was the best thing ever for me. So if they tell me I can’t conceive or carry, but leave everything in place, then I’ll definitely have it back in.

Depo made me bleed and put on weight. Cerazette mini pill stopped my periods as did the mirena coil

Depo can delay return to fertility by a year or more so it's something to think about if you want kids in the future

You could try desogestrel mini pill, it may stop your cycles. Otherwise stick with what you know and have an implant.
Return to fertility is quick when you remove it so doesn’t matter if you don’t want the full three years.
