Copper Coil

Can I have your experiences of the copper coil?
Positives and negatives?
I've had the mirena twice before which was ok, but now looking for non hormonal options.

I have a 2 year old and a newborn so looking for an option where I don't have to remember to take pills.

Thanks.

Love mine. Had it for 7 years (from meeting DH to taking it out to TTC). DD is now 4 months and had its replacement fitted last week.

Periods are marginally heavier but not unbearably so, and the lack of artificial hormones meant that I didn't have to wait when we decided we were ready to TTC.

Plus, the fact that it lasts 10 years means that I'm now sorted for contraception until I don't need it any more (am 42)

I’ve had mine for 8 1/2 years now. My periods have not been heavier at all.

Heavier periods at first, lasted for around 6 months. Then all settled down and not a problem since. In fact, i’m sure my periods have gotten lighter and shorter!

I've had mine in for about 3 years now. The first three months I had a few issues, the worst one being a 15 day bleed. I stuck with it on the advice of my GP though and after that I have had no issues at all.

Had one for over 8 years with no problems. Then it caused an infection which led to sepsis, a total hysterectomy and early menopause.

‘Installation’ was fine.
First period was dreadful, then it settled down nicely.
I thought they were ok for 10 years but my gp reckons on 5.
Also-I lost the ‘tails’ after using a mooncup for a while. I’m not sure the 2 things were connected but the nurse was certain they were.
But generally the best contraception I’ve used, ever. Liked it a lot.

I had it for four years, loved it. Wanted something non-hormonal but still to have my cycle as normal. Definitely had worse cramps but that may well have been having had DD rather than the coil. Had it removed to TTC #2 and managed first cycle.

Sounds like what I need!
Thanks for the experiences.
