Weird one.. Coil

I used to have a copper coil. It was, to my knowledge removed 5 years ago.

In that time I have had two gynae ops, including endometrial ablation (which is done via the cervix). I also had vaginal surgery last year for prolapse.

I've been increasingly unwell over last 2 months with symptoms of kidney infection, where I don't test positive on dip stick, but went sent away for culture it 'grows something'.

This week I have been particularly unwell.

I saw a nurse at GP practice yesterday for a smear. She asked if I had a coil.. I said I didn't.. But she said I have "something poking out of my cervix". She was going to call me back, but it turns out she's not at work today.

Anyway. I'm 99% sure it can't be a coil string can it? Even if it hadn't been removed when I thiught it had, it wouldn't have lasted through endometrial ablation would it?

Any ideas on how to find out whether it's a coil..or something else?
