Implant question and experiences please...

Hiya,

So I had my implant put in, in June 2017. In the first 8ish months I had 2 week periods with a 5 week break but then went back to normal periods...now, recently had a period at the 2nd week of January and now I'm spotting (not enough to wear a pad) does this indicate something is wrong or the implant has stopped working? I'm nervous as we do want another baby but not until after our wedding in july so it's totally the wrong time has anyone else had this experience? I thought the implant was ment to settle down after a year.

My implant made my periods very unpredictable for years!! It took ages to leave my system to and was a nightmare to come out. Honestly it just didn't agree with me at all. I don't think you have to be concerned to much with effectiveness as it's pretty reliable as far as I know.

I'd avoid hormone contraception like the plague that's my experience though.

Year one periods every month. Year two periods and at least 5 days spotting every month. Year 3 at least 16 days full bleeding every month and pmt from hell. I paid to have it taken out privately. Best £150 I ever spent!

I had normal monthly periods with mine. Made me feel quite down and had it removed to ttc. Had ds nine months and ten days later.

I've had the implant for years and years and it's impossible to predict my bleeding, sometimes a full period at a random time, sometimes spotting.. can be anything

Just to add though, I don't find it a problem and ta definitely the contraception that works for me! I can't deal with the pill or injections and I don't have to worry about it for 3 years at a time

Thank you everyone! This has definately put my mind at ease. Although the spotting is annoying I can live with it. It will be coming out after our wedding in july anyway 😊
