Vasectomy recoveries...

My husband is due to have a vasectomy tomorrow, but we’re going on a skiing holiday in two weeks. I’m nervous that he won’t be feeling well enough by then. Can anyone speak from experience please and how long recovery takes? Thanks

Two to three days is typical recovery. Mine had his on a Friday and was fine by Monday. Some ibuprofen and he'll be fine.

Sounds promising thanks!

My dh had a lot of bruising and swelling afterwards. It had just about gone down after 2 weeks but I dont think hed have been up for skiing at that point.

Lots of people recover quickly but a fair proportion take longer. Why doesn't he postpone ths op until after the holiday?

Hopping on to ask if you went with your DHs when they had the op?

DH's letter says he needs someone to take him home. He's told me I don't need to come and he'll get a taxi home.

My dh had his recently. He had a lot of bruising (it was all literally black and blue). Took about 2.5 weeks to go totally back to normal. He had aching pain for first 2 days, dull pain for 3rd and 4th and then for the next week felt uncomfortable in the evening if he did too much during the day.

If he is in the majority, he should be fine in 2-3weeks. Some well under 2 weeks.

For 10% however (NHS stats) there can be enduring side effects (months, years or permanent, some treatable or some not). There's no way to predict in advance if he'll be in that 10%

(nor can you know in advance if he'll be unlucky and the site gets infected, or he gets one of the other shorter and cureable side effects which could last 2 weeks)

If he has not fully recovered, he won't really be able to ski. To maximise chances of fast recovery then he will need to rest post-op. Or if you don't want to risk the holiday, reschedule the op.
