Normal side effect of copper coil?

Had this fitted in July. It's great. But... I have pcos so my cycle has always been long. I often skip periods, that's normal for me. Has been this way for 20 plus years. I've still managed to have 3 babies. Anyway, since coil was fitted my cycle has reduced to 25 days and each period is heavy and lasts up to 10 days. At one point I had 3 periods in 6 weeks. Also had awful pelvic pain, still experience this several times a month. Any one else had such a dramatic change in their cycle? Didn't expect this. Had a scan which showed small cysts on ovaries.

When I had the copper coil 5 years ago it did change my cycle and make my periods heavier and a lot more painful! I was dosed up on high dose co-codamol every month for a week. Unfortunately for me this continued for over a year and I was having to miss work so decided to have it taken out.

It actually shortened my periods and they only last for two days now (used to be 4-6 days) but they are incredibly painful and i can cry with the pain in my back. I also get terrible cramps during ovulation which I never had before the coil.

4 years on, it has never improved.

Mine are pretty heavy but they're now shorter than they were. Absolutely not painful. I really like mine.
