Can you take someone with you while having a coil fitted?

I’m having a coil fitted next week and really don’t want to go alone, during my smear a couple of months ago it went a bit wrong and I started bleeding and she could not find my cervix after trying different speculums and I got really stressed. The nurse told me if I have a coil fitted it will be hard as my cervix is hard to find. So I’m very stressed about this and want my partner to come for support for me. However after talking to them on the phone is appears I’m not allowed anyone in the room with me!! Anyone heard of this? Now I think I don’t want to go at all

They've said you can't have anyone in the room? That doesn't seem right at all! Can you email the practice manager and check?

Yeah I think I should email she said this appointment if for you only I was like yeah of course I’m sure my partner doesn’t wants coil fitted!

That's not right. You can take someone with you to appointments. Hope you get it sorted and the appointment goes well xxx

You're allowed to have a chaperone. They can provide you with one, or you can bring whoever you like with you.

I'd be tempted to have someone else doing the fitting - cervixes are the only notable thing inside a vagina, they're not that hard to find!

They don’t seam to have an email address, only the phone number or their address, but if I phone back I may end up with the same person
