Microgynin / Cerazette change worries...

I have been on Microgynon for several years with no issues. After already being borderline on the weight front, over the last 18 months I have gained over 2 stone in weight (don’t ask!). When I saw a doctor yesterday, I was advised not to take Microgynon anymore and was prescribed the mini pill due to the increase in my weight. I am really concerned about switching as I have read many reports about ladies who had spotting for months on the mini pill or who have fallen pregnant. It is my wedding in less than 6 months, so I really don’t want to rock the boat if I don’t have to. Plus, I will probably be coming off the pill after our wedding in any event because we would like to start a family. I have enough Microgynon to last until my wedding and I intend on losing weight for the big day anyway, so as that comes off the risk will be reducing too. Would it be such a bad thing / risk to stay on it for just 5 more months? Thoughts please ladies.

The doctor obviously knows better than anyone here, so (hopefully) no one will advise going against your doctors advice. FWIW, I had to change from microgynon to cerazette many years ago due to stroke risk, and I had no problems.
