Mirena coil inserted at c section?

Anyone had experience of this? Just been offered to have one inserted by the consultant when I have my c section and it seems like a good idea. I'd been considering having one to reduce my heavy periods pre this baby. However, just thinking if i am mad to add an extra potential discomfort at an already uncomfortable time? Thoughts?

Is it your first baby? I found hormonal contraception (the pill) lowered my sex drive. I had a mirena soon after birth but had it taken out as I wanted to know what my new baseline self was like after all the pregnancy hormones.
I think the coil reduced my sex drive a bit, and that bit might be all you have left with a small baby!
I don't imagine the discomfort would be a factor though, you have afterbirth cramps anyway (yippee!) and your uterus will be stretched out anyway.

It's my third baby. Hadn't thought about the sex drive thing. Although that was my main reason for not wanting to continue being on the pill. I felt it had really dwindled while I was on my that. Also now wondering if adding extra hormones into the mix is a good thing postnatally.

I always thought you had to wait 21 days post birth to start any contraceptive
