Hi, has anyone had or is using the Merina Coil not any other coil I'm talking about Merina only. Since I had it fitted a year ago I have piled the weight on. I'm more active and exercise everyday watch what I eat and the weight does not shift. I've been reading up on the Merina Coil and it seems very common. Has any other members had this problem with the Merina.

I put on quite a bit with mirena. I think it’s common. However, I have had no issues losing weight on it. This may because I was considerably overweight (size 22 a few months ago and now an 16-18). Maybe you have less to lose which is making it harder?

I've put about 20 pounds on. It won't shift no matter what and its been gradual since the coil was fitted. I'm thinking it's the Merina. I've never been this heavy even during both pregnancy's. I exercise more than ever and still my weight goes up.

I am the same, in fact I am going to my doctor tomorrow because of the anxiety and weight gain i feel are caused by the coil

How much weight have you put on if you don't mind me asking.

I've had the Mirena nearly 2 years and my weight is the same as ever.

Anecdotes do not equal data.

I lost weight after having the mirena as not having massive floody periods meant I could exercise more, the mirena itself won’t cause weight gain but the extra progesterone can increase appetite so just watch what you eat.

I've done a lot of googling and there are many women who's weight does increase after having it fitted. I had it removed yesterday so time will tell. I excercise daily and others have commented on the fact of how much I do yet just keep gaining weight. And I'm not eating pies all day Wink. I went on a diet a few months ago and my friend lost lists of weight instead I put it on. The Merina does say 5% put on weight however I think it's a lot more.

Hi OP, have you lost any weight since removal. I have just had removed for probs although I have piled on a stone since being fitted 2yrs ago- like you I exercise more than ever and eat well. I was blaming my age - 41- now hoping the weight will come off easier??

Hi I noticed bloating started to go within days. I bled within two days or removal so the hormones must have started to leave my body. I weighed myself and made no changes to diet and excercise and yes I had lost weight 4lb within the fist fortnight.
