Hi all.
I have the nexplanon implant at the moment. About half way though it's 3 year cycle and I absolutely hate it. I bled for the first 3 months or so but expected this. Then fine for 6 months no periods at all. But caused very bad acne needing 2 prescriptions at a time to keep it under control. If I stop the creams for a few days it's back with a vengeance. No weight issues etc.
Now for the last 10 months or so I have had a 6 periods each lasting between 18 and 22 days. They are very heavy and painful. Nothing like pre implant periods. I bled through a night time pad in an hour 2 nights ago and had to strip my bed and change the sheets.
My mum has the mirena coil and raves about it. But I had sepsis caused by the maternity ward rupturing my waters and introducing a staph infections
I ended up with maternal sepsis and almost lost my life and my baby. I still have complications from this, along with pre-existing fibromyalgia, but the sepsis had caused such a mess of my uterus and cervix. I was told no more babies for a few years to let myself heal but no follow up has ever been offered. I don't have any issues with prolapses or anything. I get some pain during sex and also had a smear and was told 'my cervix has a u-bend' by the nurse and had to sit on my fist one side of my bum to help her!
As I have had such a severe pevic infection, do you think they would give me the coil? I did call my local gum clinic and asked for a call back on Friday but they didn't bother calling me. Obviously I'll call again tomorrow but in the mean time does anyone know anything about this?
Thanks.
J x
