Please come, and talk to me about the mini pill!

Was put in it about 8 weeks ago after the birth of DC1, nurse told me the ins and outs, span me the big positive - 'most women don't have periods!'

You’re going to get really mixed replies! :( I asked something very similar when i was put on it. I persevered for 9 months but it was just too inconsistent for me. Irregular bleeding; sometimes nothing for weeks, sometimes light bleeding for 3 days, 9 days, a fortnight!

In the end, I went back on the combined pill. I didn’t really want to, in my late thirties, but my weight is healthy, non-smoker etc etc and so the risks were perceived as low by my doctor. Irregular bleeding stopped immediately and now I only have a very light bleed in between packets (which is obviously expected and can be avoided by running two packs together).

Thank you so much @PARunnerGirl Smile

Honestly I am tempted to go back on the combined pill... I just had visions in my head of a world with no periods, and unicorns and rainbows Grin

Can you remember how easy it was to go from one to the other? Were you protected against pregnancy straight away?

It was very easy to switch. If I remember correctly, you either overlap or go directly from one to the other.

I had exactly the same expectations as you because three of my friends are the “norm”- went on the mini pill after birth and just never had their periods return... heaven! Unfortunately not for me. I feel fine that I gave it the 6-9 months; it obviously doesn’t work for me!

Ah you've made my mind up! Back to the GP for the combined pill it is, I just hate the uncertainty.

Thanks again Smile
