Exeperiences of Cerelle?

Anyone taking Cerelle?

I've taken it for three years after having DD because I was able to take it whilst breastfeeding. Previously I took Femodene.

I was wary of taking it because I'd heard bad things but I seemed to get on with it fine and rarely have a period, which is nice. However, lately I've been getting headaches and quite low in mood and I'm wondering if it could be to do with this pill. Obviously it could be a hundred different things but my low moods do feel very hormonal- you know when you have PMT and you can hear yourself being utterly irrational but have no way of controlling it?!

I've just been prescribed another years worth but wondering if I should go back and ask for something else. Do all pills have side effects?

Ive been in it for years with no problems at all. I've never heard any horror stories either.

I had hair loss on it which is apparently very rare. The most common side effect however is unpredictable bleeding. They did update the patient information leaflet/advice while I was on it to admit that this was a more common side effect than they first admitted and it doesn't settle for every woman.

Anyway if you have headaches due to it then you have to come off it. Speak to your FP nurse first.

In my case all pills have side effects but for other women they find one or more they are fine on. I know from talking to my sisters that progesterone only hormonal contraception doesn't seem to work for any off us whether it is mini-pill, implant or Mirena coil so they where surprised I also had problems on the COC pill.
